Who is contagious?
If you are unfortunate enough to catch the flu, you can infect other people up to a day before you feel sick, due to the flu incubation period. That means you can be contagious and infect someone else before you even know you have the flu.
As an adult, once you're sick with the flu, you can infect someone else for up to 7 days. Kids can infect others for up to 10 days. Adults with the flu should stay home for at least 24 hours after their fever goes away without fever-reducing medicine.
